Families and caregivers play a pivotal role in substance use prevention. By being informed, families and caregivers can prevent children from using drugs, reduce the chances of accidental overdose and avoid the devastation of addiction.
Join us at Straight Talk to learn how you can be prepared to prevent and respond to alcohol and drug use, overdose and addiction. Huggins Hospital, Carroll County Coalition for Public Health and Team Wolfeboro as the Eastern Lakes Region Coalition for Healthy Families present this education session for families.

Your Teenager’s Bedroom – Melissa Fernald LICSW, MLADC
Tour this nationally recognized hands-on exploration of more than 70 indicators of at-risk teenage behaviors, and current trends in adolescent substance use. Learn how to have conversations with teens about drugs and alcohol.
Anyone Anytime NH
Opioid Overdose Rescue - Narcan Education and Dispensing. If you are concerned that you or a loved one is at risk for overdosing on an opioid, this training is for you. There is no cost to participants for this training or dispensing.
Experiences from the Field
Learn from the experiences of local EMS first responders, what to look for and what you can do to be prepared in the event of an overdose.
How to Talk to Your Teen About Alcohol and Drugs
Meet trained health and behavioral health professionals from Huggins Hospital, learn strategies and find tools to help when it’s time to have conversations with your child or teen.
CPR for Friends and Families
Learn basic lifesaving skills and get hands-on CPR practice. The American Heart Association’s Family & Friends® CPR Course is intended for anyone who wants to learn CPR and prefers to learn in an Instructor-led or facilitated group environment. This course is for people who do not need a course completion card for a job or other requirements. Family & Friends CPR is ideal for community groups, parents, grandparents, caregivers, schools and students, and others interested in learning how to save a life.
L.E.A.D. – Law Enforcement Against Drugs
Learn from the Sandwich Police Department about this innovative curriculum being delivered in many local schools. “Too Good for Drugs” puts social and emotional learning to work through fun and interactive lessons to build self-confidence and resiliency, make healthy choices and achieve success.
BONUS: Meet a Huggins Hospital Therapy Dog volunteer
Huggins Hospital’s Pet Therapy Program engages visiting certified therapy animal teams to support recovery from a physical or emotional condition. A certified therapy dog can promote a sense of well-being to enhance healing, living and learning for people with health and behavioral health challenges.
