DEXA/Bone Density

The key to healthy bones

Osteoporosis can be a serious condition and diagnosing it at an early stage helps improve the success of treatment. So if you’re wondering -- or worrying -- about how your bones are doing as the years pass, it’s time to talk to your provider about a safe and easy exam that’s available through Huggins Hospital’s Medical Imaging Department.

The exam is called a DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorption) and it’s one of the easiest and quickest screening exams we provide. Having DEXA exams at regular intervals will help your physician track whether bone is being lost over time. This information is necessary to implement an effective treatment plan.

So there’s no need to wonder how healthy your bones are, when the answer is readily available. To schedule a DEXA exam, please call your health care provider’s office.
