A special thank you to the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation for making the Ambient MRI Experience possible.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is commonly used to evaluate or diagnose strokes, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, joint injuries, and many other diseases and conditions.
It’s a painless procedure that does not require radiation to gather the needed information. Instead, MRI uses a large magnet that interacts with hydrogen atoms found in the water that occurs naturally in the human body.
This interaction generates high-quality, finely-detailed pictures that can be manipulated by sophisticated computer software. The resulting multi-dimensional images provide an amazingly accurate look at what’s happening inside almost any part of the body.
