Huggins Hospital Infusion & Cancer Care Center is now a reality.
We ask for your support of this critical service.
When data showed that our region had lower than average cancer diagnoses but that those who were diagnosed with cancer had a higher than average mortality, we realized that local access to cancer treatment was at issue. Huggins saw this as a call to action. We purpose-built our Infusion Center, which opened in December 2022, to include cancer care in the future.
On April 1, 2025, the future arrived.
“It was immediately clear when we opened that having cancer care available at Huggins Hospital is a much-needed service in our community. I received two calls yesterday from patients who are now traveling long distances to receive care, a strain on an already exhausted patient as well as on their families. We are so happy to help local cancer patients get the care they need close to home.” —Deborah Silva, Nurse Manager, Oncology
The Huggins Hospital Infusion & Cancer Care Center is now a reality. Mass General Brigham’s Dr. Ahmad Daniyal Siddiqui is the program’s Medical Director, and he and a skilled team are on board.
Almost everyone has been impacted by a cancer diagnosis—perhaps you, a family member, a friend. Your support for this program reaches throughout our community. As a nonprofit community hospital, Huggins’ main focus is ensuring that those in the communities surrounding us have access to the healthcare they need. And that now includes cancer care.
The importance of this service is reflected in our choosing Cancer Care as the first fundraising initiative of our three-year Compass Campaign.
With your support we can:
- Fund the latest in patient equipment, such as “cold caps” (scalp-cooling systems) that help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy treatment;
- Support Expert Staff & Specialized Training, including clinical training and certification for our dedicated nursing team;
- Ensure Program Strength & Expansion, allowing us to reach more patients and expand services in the years ahead.
